Reader JM had a storm come through and snap telephone poles, dropping power to his entire town. That also quenched city water since the well and distribution pumps can’t run. See how this works? Without electricity your way of life is dramatically impacted. Act accordingly to insure your own success! It spurred me to write The Last Mile.
A reminder regarding the above: NO ONE IS COMING1
Reader RH pointed to this article by Brandon Smith with the quote “People can become addicted to watching the system break down and I realize it’s hard to look away from a train wreck. But when it comes time to doing something about the mess and make some hard decisions a lot of people run away. This has to change.” I could not agree more. We should all stop pacifying ourselves with “I should…” stuff. Tie a time and date to this stuff and enjoy the sense of accomplishment when we check it off the list.
As you’ve likely read here, I stopped becoming a contributor to SurvivalBlog because it was replete with Smart Boys. But a broken clock is still correct two times a day. They published this How I Survived A Home Invasion article and I swear this Mr. Y. fellow has to be a long lost brother from how he writes and summarizes things, especially his unapologetic attitude of switching to different ammo. Sorry he actually had go through it so listen up peeps: this is free life advice. Experience is a good teacher but it works in arrears.
Reader KD was camping recently and during a walk was surprised hear a running generator; at 30’ it was mostly unnoticeable. The unit was the 3000W Predator from Harbor Freight which they don’t appear to sell any longer. I wouldn’t expect this from HF and it does make me want to trust their 2kW Honda clone (at a much lower price).
Update to the article on Ten OTC Meds You Should Have to include a mention of Tylenol Dual Action which is OTC. Get some before the clowns at the FDA ban it because the colors on the box don’t match the flag of Ukraine.
Reader JL provided killer info on the MiBoxer Smart Charger for Part 3 of the Batteries series. Like a Ragnar Relay, it takes a team so please submit your comments.
Speaking of the above, this month I have scheduled both a guest post and an interview to start rounding (aka improving) the level of content here.
Your monthly reminder to purchase physical silver out of your self reliance budget (you do have a self reliance budget, don’t you?!) I’ve used JM Bullion for over a decade and in the past week Silver prices have been edging down to $22/oz on the “spot” market.
